Alyssa Barnes, Ph.D

SPROUT Educational and Therapeutic Services is an integrative approach that springs from nearly 20 years of education and experience in teaching, mentoring and working alongside students of all ages, as well as their parents, fellow teachers and administrators. The education system has evolved through the years, providing numerous opportunities for children of various learning styles and abilities. However, navigating the framework of the system that optimizes what is best for each child can be challenging.

Growing up, I always knew I wanted to work with children and quickly realized I held a passion for helping students find success. I began my journey in teaching at the elementary school level as a multiage inclusion teacher.  Following a return to  graduate school, I taught as an assistant professor after earning my doctorate in special education.  Having a desire to remain authentic in the content and utilize my expertise, I  returned to the public school classroom.  I’ve spent nearly my entire life in the education field at various levels, and my passion to continue learning and growing has propelled my belief that all children have the capacity to be successful.

By enhancing each student’s strengths, growing parent and student advocacy skills,  while promoting dialog with everyone involved in the interdisciplinary team, my hope is to provide each student
their very best opportunity to take root, shoot up, and become
their very best self.
